Make Youth Empowerment a Priority, Group Charges Obaseki

Obaseki

A Non-Governmental Organization under the auspices of Organisation for Global Youth Peace Empowerment and Development Initative (OGYPEDI) has tasked the Edo State Governor-Elect, Dr Godwin Obaseki to make Youth empowerment, a crucial part of his administration.

This advice was given by the Executive Director of the group, Mr Mustafa Abdulrahman after an interaction among executive members of the group with journalists in Benin, Edo State on Monday.

Abdulrahman urged the incoming Obaseki  administration to leave no stone unturned in ensuring that youths of the state are empowered positively in all ramifications.

He noted that youth empowerment is crucial for the development of the state and Nigeria at a large. The group attributed youth restiveness in the state to joblessness, saying OGYPEDI will, within its capacity,  support youth empowerment programmes of the obaseki-led administration if needs be.
According to him, “one of the cardinal goals of the organisation is to ensure that youths are well empowered in our communities, country and on the global stage.”
Also, the National PRO of the group, Mr Michael Ipheghe who spoke on behalf of the National Coordinator Mr Japhet Omene Emmanuel, pointed out that youth empowerment is very paramount, especially in a time that the youths are faced with the current economic hardship coupled with an alarming high rate of unemployment and job losses in the country.

He said, “The Godwin Obaseki incoming administration would be on a positive side of history and posterity, if it is able to implement a blueprint that would ensure youths empowerment, and employment for youths in the state as promised during his campaign.
“The group equally use the opportunity to once again caution the youths in the state and Nigeria at large to always be law abiding citizens as no nation can thrive well under unfriendly atmosphere.
“Therefore, it is imperative for all youths to shun all forms of unlawful practices and acts that are contrary to peace”, he said.
